The Absarokee Civic Club works in conjunction with many organizations to make improvements to the town of Absarokee and promote community awareness.
They have worked with the Stillwater Economic Development Agency to obtain Community Transportation Enhancement Program grants to improve the town’s sidewalks on Willow, School, Weast, Church, Montana, and recently Grove streets. They also oversea the timely removal of snow from these sidewalks and those along the town’s main street.
Annually the Absarokee Civic Club works with the schools on Earth Day to clean up the town. This activity is a fun time for them to work with school children to give them a sense of civic pride. They have worked with the Beartooth Park and Recreation Department for the upkeep of Hawkins Park, and they purchased a new sign, located at the corner of Woodard and Willow, for the park in 2009.
During election years, the Absarokee Civic Club sponsors candidate forums to give members of the community an opportunity to address the candidates before the election.
The Absarokee Civic Club also manages the rental of tables, chairs, tents, a public address system, a generator, and a trailer purchased through a Community Tourism Assessment Program grant awarded to the Absarokee Area Merchants Association. These items are available to residents of the community for private functions, for a nominal fee. |
